A multi-player game built around a popular collaborative UX tool

Project Background

As our team grew, we noticed silos and a lack of conversation among team members. I knew other team members wanted an environment where we could come together and unwind, so I invented a game using a tool we all use.

Arena Layout

Courts for each player are arranged equidistantly around a central bank of game pieces. The center of the arena consists of an arrangement of emoji types, each with their own point value. Off the bat, each player gets a "moneyface" emoji in their court.

Gameplay

Round length can vary, but is usually 1-2 minutes. At the end of all rounds the scores are totaled to determine the Champion of the Dome.

Strategy

Because there are so few rules, game strategies can be very diverse and ingenious:
•  Resizing all pieces to be tiny
•  Moving other players' courts far away
•  Removing everyone else’s document edit access

Some Past FigDome Arenas

Outcomes

The FigmaDome proved to be a valuable tool for improving team dynamics and fostering open communication.  What started as an experiment is now a regular team activity. We frequently utilized our favorite game to help new team members feel more comfortable and integrated into the group.
